Quality Crafted Homes, a family-owned and -operated homebuilding business for over 25 years, strives to design and construct homes in a way that suits the owner's lifestyle.

That's been the goal since it was founded in 1985 by Richard and Shirley Kees, whose dream was to bring quality craftsmanship back into the profession. Richard says that establishing a family business was not his original intention, but that circumstances brought the family into the business when sons Duane and Denny, who owned Two Brothers Construction, merged with Quality Crafted Homes in 1989. Daughter Pam Munster soon joined the team as administrative coordinator, a natural fit as she brought many years of experience as a legal assistant to the company.

"I did not set out to build a third-generation family business," says Richard, referring to his grandchildren whose involvement is on the rise in the business. The staff includes non-family members as well; some have been with the firm for over a decade.
